Mr. Menco Rasterhoff has been a lawyer at De Roos & Pen since 2017. He provides assistance in criminal matters of both general and financial-economic nature. These include drug-related crime, money laundering, violent crime and complex fraud cases. He also has extensive experience in cases regarding extradition and traffic-related crime.
Rasterhoff graduated in criminal law from the University of Amsterdam. In addition, he completed the administrative law specialization program at the Grotius Academy.
Prior to joining De Roos & Pen, Rasterhoff worked for several years as a member of the senior legal staff at the Amsterdam Court of Appeals. There he was involved in the prosecution of criminal cases of a wide-ranging nature. In this manner he has gained extensive experience in criminal cases, including complicated investigations regarding, for example, homicide.
Rasterhoff is vice-chairman of the Dutch Association of Young Defence Counsel.
Rasterhoff is an interim-judge in the district court Midden-Nederland.
He is a co-founder and editor of the Dutch magazine “Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Strafrecht” (Dutch Magazine for Criminal Law). Previously, he was involved as an editor with the magazine ‘Practical Guide to Criminal Law’ as well as the ‘Newsletter of European Case Law’.
Legal500 has described Rasterhoff as a ‘key associate’, being ‘experienced in extradition cases’.
Rasterhoff has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister): criminal law. Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
