Practice areas

De Roos & Pen handles all aspects of criminal law. More specifically, it has expertise in the following sectors.

Confiscation cases

Criminal cases are ever more frequently followed by confiscation cases. In such cases, the public prosecutor demands confiscation of illegally obtained assets. This often happens at the start of a criminal investigation when a prejudgment attachment is put on assets in bank accounts and valuable property. Confiscation cases are characterised by a different law of evidence and require much specialised knowledge of the law and procedure of confiscation. De Roos & Pen has this expertise. The lawyers have a lot of experience in the assistance of suspects / convicted persons in confiscation cases and are regularly asked to lecture at courses and seminars on confiscation of illegally obtained assets and advise on proposals for legislative changes or to take part in supervisory commissions on academic research in this field.
